Cornell Pump was founded in 1946; Ted Weise has been here more than half the time Cornell has existed. Ted has seen Cornell move, grow its work force more than 4 times than when he started, and build billions of dollars of pumps. Ted joined Cornell on November 23, 1981 as an assembler, and has worked at nearly every position available in the shop since then. He has been a Machinist helper, Quality Manager, Swing Assembly Lead, and Outside Trainer, among other jobs he has held in his career at Cornell.
He retires the first of April, after more four decades here. When asked to reflect on the time, his advice was “It all involves integrity, love, respect, and hard work.” Ted is known for his knowledge, work ethic, pleasant demeanor, and can-do attitude for everything from special end-user requests to employee events. He was well known to many customers for his more than three decades of assembly demonstrations at Pump School, with his brother Lyle Wiese, who retired in 2018 after 37 years at Cornell.
Ted plans to spend time with his wife, children, and grandchildren in Oregon and will find time for camping, fishing, cruising, and plenty of home projects.
