Success stories from the field.
Real installations, real numbers. See how Cornell pumps solve tough problems in mines, municipalities, farms, oilfields, and plants around the world.
Oil Gas
Alberta Shale
When competitor pumps fell short on volume and pressure for frac water transfer, an Alberta oilfield service company switched to trailer-mounted Cornell MX 6822 high-head pumps. They now deliver 3,000 GPM at 400 feet TDH. This case study also covers the MX Series, with heads to 800 feet, 2″ solids handling, and efficiencies up to 75%.
Mining
Australian Quarry
A Cornell 6SP rubber-lined slurry pump has run at an Australian sand quarry since 2012 without a single seal leak. It moves about 50 tons per hour of 30% solids slurry and has logged nearly 19,000 hours and 9,800 starts. The patented Cycloseal® system has never needed replacement, proving its reliability in abrasive slurry service.
Agriculture
Hawaii Sugar Plant
Four Cornell 10SP slurry pumps with Cycloseal® replaced flush-dependent pumps at a Hawaiian sugar plant, running 24/7 from 2014 without a seal leak. Eliminating seal flush water saved more than $50,000 a year, and total savings topped $130,000 over two years, including about $12,000 a year in reduced maintenance.
Oil Gas
Holton High Head
A Gulf Coast frac water transfer job ran nine 6NHTB pumps along six miles of twin 8″ pipeline. Cornell replaced them with one 8NHTH supply pump and two 6822MX high-head boosters, cutting the pump count by two-thirds and sharply reducing labor and diesel fuel use. The sheet also covers MX Series and 8NHTH performance.
Rental
Portage Creek Bypass
During an EPA Region 5 PCB cleanup in Southwest Michigan, Cornell 16NHG22, 12NNF, and sound-attenuated diesel pumps bypassed Portage Creek in seven segments over two seasons. Handling flows up to 11,300 GPM, the pumps moved about 5.94 billion gallons, and the contractor said their reliability met or exceeded expectations.
Agriculture
Remote Controlled Agitators
A Midwest liquid manure company built remote-controlled agitation boats powered by Cornell 4514T, 6NHTB, and 6NHTB cutter pumps to mix entire lagoons without tying up a tractor or farmhand. The boats pump 4,000 GPM for more consistent fertilizer, and the cutter pump keeps 80% efficiency even when handling weeds and debris.

California Capacity
A northern California city chose a Cornell 30NNT-VF30 vertical pump over three competitors for its new wastewater reclamation system, rated at 24,300 GPM and 38 feet TDH. Cornell supplied a complete engineered diesel package and ran rotor-dynamic, seismic, and vibration analyses before delivery. The system has run successfully for more than ten years.

Canada Slurry
A Canadian distributor put the Cornell SP slurry pump through a 1,500-hour silica sand lab test and a three-month dredging field trial. Wear parts showed heavy abrasion, but the patented Cycloseal® seal came out pristine with its original primer paint intact. The test company’s president called flushless Cycloseal® a game changer for slurry pumping.

Clogging Pump Station
Daily ragging cut more than 1.2 million gallons of capacity at an 18.4 MGD Southwest Washington pump station and required de-ragging twice a day. After testing more than half a dozen prototypes, Cornell developed a hybrid cutter-auger design that reduced ragging events by more than 90%. The district has since retrofitted several other stations.

Mining
Colombian Mining
Three Cornell 8NHTA Redi-Prime® dewatering pumps have run 9,000 hours at a Colombian nickel mine without a single spare part or any production downtime. The sheet shows how Cycloseal® keeps abrasive grit away from seal faces, often reaching 15,000 hours before seal maintenance and saving mines more than $5,000 per avoided seal replacement.

Cutter Pump
Blockages one to two times per week plagued a Caldwell, Idaho lift station running three Cornell 6NHTB pumps. Cornell retrofitted the problem pump with a Cutter kit in the field in under six hours. Since then, the station hasn’t had a single service interruption or clean-out, with no change in motor horsepower and minimal efficiency impact.

Designed to Order
For a coastal Southern California sewer lift station, Cornell custom-built a 4NHTA-F18 horizontal duplex-tandem pump with all-ductile-iron wet ends, a 75 HP inverter-duty motor, and a double-extended shaft. At more than 2,400 lbs, it needed a specially designed skid. The project shows Cornell’s custom engineering capability for unique installations.

Mining
Diavik Diamond Mine
To reach diamond deposits beneath Lac de Gras in Canada’s far north, eight Cornell 16NHG22 Redi-Prime® pumps on two barges moved 2.6 billion gallons of water in just 49 days. Pumping more than 36,800 GPM around the clock near the Arctic Circle, they kept the mine on schedule and avoided a costly six-month delay.
