Cornell SM Series: Slurry Tough, Series Ready, Infinitely Adjustable

When handling abrasive, high-solids slurries, you need more than a standard pump — you need a workhorse built for punishing conditions. Cornell’s SM Series slurry pumps deliver unmatched performance, durability, and serviceability for demanding applications like mine tailings, sand and gravel, and other heavy-duty slurry systems.

High Chrome Strength for Harsh Environments
The SM Series is engineered from high chrome white iron with a hardness exceeding 600 Brinell, giving it exceptional abrasion resistance. Designed for maximum working pressures up to 600 PSI, these pumps are ideal for series or multistage installations. Their extra thick hard-metal construction ensures” long life in abrasive duties without the need for replaceable liners.

Designed for Easy Maintenance and Reliability
A back pullout design simplifies maintenance, allowing service without disturbing the suction or discharge piping. An externally adjustable suction wear plate maintains performance throughout wear life — without any need for frame or coupling realignment. With grease or oil-lubricated bearing frames, high-capacity bearings, and multiple gland seal arrangements, the SM Series adapts easily to any operating condition.

CycloSeal® and CycloGuard™ Innovations
Each SM pump comes standard with Cornell’s CycloSeal® — a patented, flushless sealing system that eliminates the need for external seal water, reducing maintenance and operating costs. The optional CycloGuard™ reduces inlet recirculation, extending pump life and maintaining consistent performance even under variable loads.

Performance Range and Capability
The SM Series covers a wide hydraulic range with flow rates from 125 to 13,000 GPM and heads up to 425 feet. Six models — from the compact 2309SM to the high-capacity 101232SM — provide flexibility across system designs.

  • 2309SM: 125–730 GPM, 600 PSI, 60% efficiency
  • 3412SM: 300–1,500 GPM, 600 PSI, 64% efficiency
  • 4616SM: 400–3,200 GPM, 600 PSI, 67% efficiency
  • 6820SM: 600–5,200 GPM, 600 PSI, 69% efficiency
  • 81027SM: 800–9,000 GPM, 600 PSI,  71% efficiency
  • 101232SM: Up to 13,000 GPM, 600 PSI, 78% efficiency

Built for Series Pumping and Heavy Solids
The SM Series excels in series pumping, handling solids up to 3 inches with no sacrifice in head or efficiency. It’s available with any pipe flange standard and adaptable to both CycloSeal® or other sealing methods.

Materials of Construction

  • Chrome iron impeller, volute, wear plate, backplate, and expeller
  • Ductile iron suction cover, bracket, and frame
  • 4140 steel shaft with 420 stainless steel sleeve

The Cornell Difference
Every SM Series pump is designed and built in Clackamas, Oregon — backed by Cornell’s decades of engineering excellence and commitment to performance in the harshest industrial, mining, and municipal environments.
